Hi there and welcome to Riveted Woodworking & Design!

I’m Althea - the woman dared to dream big, and the start of Riveted!

My passion for creating started at a very young age and has only grown. I have a degree and background in sewing and fashion design and while that may seem worlds away from woodworking, it really isn’t. I just am using different machines to create with a different medium!

Woodworking has been such a humbling experience for me in many ways. I learn something new almost every day and am always looking for ways to improve my craft.

I am so grateful for the support I’ve received over the years, especially from continued customers and word of mouth. Thankfully, this small business of mine has grown and I am no longer a one woman show!

Meet Jason

While Jason has been a supporter of Riveted since day 1, he officially joined the business at the end of 2020. He is an extremely hard worker but keeps us both laughing all day at the shop. His favorite parts include working with hardwoods and reclaimed woods to add even more of a wow factor to our built ins.

Did we mention that Jason and Althea are married? That’s right, officially partners in both life and business. The number one question we get asked is “How is it working together?” which we know really means “How much do you guys fight while working?” And truth be told, we actually work great together! We of course, have the occasional disagreement (usually while in the middle of moving an extremely heavy piece up the stairs) but we’re quick to move past it and finish bringing our masterpieces to life.

When I use the word ‘handcrafted’ to describe what I do, I do not say that lightly.

My hands are involved in every step of the process - from selecting materials, creating the plans, cutting, sanding, assembling and more. And if you looked at my hands you could see the proof!

After redoing vintage furniture for a few years, my passion became to create new pieces that would stand the test of time and would someday get handed down. When you invest in a piece by RWD you are investing in the time I have spent learning, and honing my skills, a piece made out of real wood, with imperfections that make it perfectly authentic. You are also investing in yourself and your community. By supporting this small business you are helping me to support my family, and eventually other families through the employees I hire.

So, welcome! Thank you for taking the time to considering Riveted for a piece in your home or business and know that every message, like, follow, inquiry and order matter so much to me, and I appreciate it more than you know!
